Realizations in 2020

April 6, 2020

I think we can all agree that life moves rather quickly! Which is the excuse I’m going to use for not blogging since 2018 🙂 Constantly on the go with three kids, running a boutique photography business, making sure hubby and I have quality time to spend together, the list goes on and on! But today…today feels different. Time has slowed down exponentially. Never in a million years would I have imagined that we would be forced to stay home; stop working, homeschool, and only leave our house for food or medical attention. I’ll be honest…my first response was “OH *HITTTTTT” stop playing LOL. My head was spinning and my mind was running a mile a minute. It felt like the world had completely stopped and we were living in some kind of alternative reality.

Initial changes in any situation can cause stress or fear. So what do we do when this happens? STOP, take a deep breath, and reevaluate YOUR thought processes…asking ourselves questions we’d never thought to ask ourselves before. This can take time, but the good news is that time is on our side! There may never be another opportunity like this again. Yes my friends, this is an OPPORTUNITY. By staying home and being still, I’m learning more about myself…the things I love and also the things I dislike about me and what I want to change for the better. There is always room for growth, am I right?!

This kind of change can bring a sense of peace, gratitude, and an opportunity for self reflection that we never made time for in the past. Letting go of the things we can’t control, and being mindful of our emotional reactions to these changes are imperative if we want to evolve. I encourage you to find daily rituals that bring you joy, comfort, and a sense of wellness; continuing to expand our minds with knowledge (reading books, learning a different language, starting a business, writing poems and songs, mailing a letter to your family member. Whatever it is that will make your heart sing, or someone else’s! How will you step out of your bubble and try something you never thought you’d have the time for? And when this pandemic is a distant memory, will you miss the stillness? Will you look back and be proud of all the things you accomplished during that time? Will you long for another chance to be that still again? I know I will! Just think how much we will soon appreciate the ‘little things.’

Thanks so much for reading, always grateful that you’re here! Being able to share my work and thoughts with all of you has brought me immeasurable joy over the years. Stay safe, happy and healthy-Love always xoxo-Jen
